Hello folks. I am going to spend more money on my podcast next month. I want to get a fairly portable souncboard with about 6 channels on it. But I want it small enough where I can carry it from place to place easly. Do you have any segestions? Thanks in advance.
wait, sound board? I'm sorry, what's that? I feels stupid as it is. :d
A sound board is what what a boradcaster plugs his or her microphone, computer, CD player and other things in to. I need a sound board with at least 6 channels in it.
oh! okay, got ya. :)
look at the baranger podcastudio. its cheep and comes with a decent mixer that would have everything you need.
some don't like baranger though. Shure makes good mixers , but honestly? check out roles . they don't selle directly to consumers , but I have a very small 4 channel plus one mick input (both XLR and quorter inch jacks) and this thing works very wel. frequency response is 20 HZ-20KHZ even for a product that only costs $50. dead simple to use too.
if you call them, they'll be more then happy to talk to you. I've explained that I was blind and what I needed and they gave me a moddle number which I found on Amazon.

I like this brand a lot, though own baranger mixers too. Rolls makes smaller portible mixers then baranger does IMO.
the mick jack is both XLR and quarter inch, where as the inputs and output is RCA. there is also a 1/8th headphone jack too for monitoring with headphones if you choose. with mine one of the inputs and mick input are controlled by the same vol volume, but there are a lot of choices out there so check out the web page I posted, and if you are unsure, ask on here or call them.
I need to look before I talk. its the newmark mixer that I have that has the combined quarter inch or XLR jack, so choose your flaver with that one for mick input. this Rolls has XLR only.
The podcastudio is a decent option, I think they run for like $100 or so? I went a different route, but also used baranger. I put about $125 in to my entire set up, including cables, XLR microphone, mixer, sound interface, etc. It's now survived a move just fine, and I've moved it around as needed. Here's a podcast I did with this set up if you want to hear how it sounds.

If you really want to know, I'll take the time to look up the exact equipment I used for the set up. This is a 5 channel mixer, but there is a slightly more expensive 7 channel one that works the same way. Everything is usable, since it's all dials and jacks.
